Frequently asked questions
Donations
Is my donation tax-deductible?
YES Pakistan is an approved non-profit organisation. Donors in Pakistan can claim a tax credit; we issue a receipt for every donation.
Do you accept Zakat?
Yes. Zakat is kept in a separate fund and used only for eligible recipients under Shariah guidance.
Will I get a receipt for my donation?
Yes — every Zakat, Sadqa, Khairat and Fitrana donation is receipted, tracked to a fund and included in our audited accounts. Har atiye ki raseed milti hai.
Zakat
Can I pay Zakat online? (Zakat online kaise dein?)
Yes. Choose Zakat on our donate page, enter the amount and pay by bank transfer; we send a receipt. Zakat online dena aasaan hai — Donate page par Zakat chunein aur raqam likhein.
Is my Zakat kept separate?
Yes. Zakat goes into a dedicated Zakat fund in our accounts and is spent only on eligible (mustahiq) recipients. Aap ki Zakat alag fund mein rehti hai.
How do I calculate my Zakat?
Zakat is generally 2.5% of qualifying savings and assets held for a lunar year above the nisab. For your own case please ask a qualified scholar.
Sadqa
What is the difference between Sadqa and Khairat?
Both are voluntary charity. Sadqa (Sadaqah) is the Islamic term for any charity given for the sake of Allah; Khairat is the everyday Urdu word for giving to people in need. Sadqa aur Khairat dono nafli sadqat hain.
What is Sadqa-e-Jariya?
Ongoing charity whose benefit continues — for example a child's education, a classroom or clean water. Sadqa-e-Jariya woh sadqa hai jis ka faida jaari rehta hai, jaise kisi bachche ki taleem.
Khairat
Where should I give Khairat? (Khairat kahan dein?)
Give where you can see the impact. YES Pakistan sends a receipt for every donation and publishes audited accounts. Khairat wahan dein jahan hisaab saaf ho.
Fitrana
When should Fitrana be paid?
Fitrana should be paid before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer; many people pay during the last days of Ramadan so it reaches families in time.
How much is Fitrana? (Fitrana kitna hai?)
The per-person rate is announced each Ramadan and depends on the staple (wheat, dates, etc.). Multiply the rate by the number of people in your household. Fitrana fi kas rate × ghar ke afraad.
Who receives Fitrana? (Fitrana kis ko dein?)
Fitrana goes to deserving families so they can celebrate Eid too. We distribute it before Eid through our field teams.
